Luis Gergle (b. 1945, Guadalajara, Mexico) was born into a family of diplomats. He spent twelve years researching the life of Antonio Alejandro Jiménez Vargas, the world’s only blind jewel thief. After the success of his first book Famous Jewel Crimes (1979), Gergle founded El Museo de los Crímenes de Joya on Route 62 in Oklahoma.
