Lucy Englehardt (1907-1962) was born outside of Munich, Germany, to parents who were circus performers. At the age of 16, she ran away to London to become an acrobat in Professor F.T. Higginbotham’s Hucklebuck Revue. Her experiences were the basis for Famous Circus Crimes (1948), which was serialized on the BBC in the early 1950s starring voice actors Richard Cornsock and Tampty Hollum.
